With skin problems, changing the food is often (but not always) enough.  This depends on whether or not the dog is experiencing environmental allergies as well, but limiting the food is a great way to begin to isolate the allergy.  For this reason, Oscar’s Free Range Chicken Dinner has far fewer ingredients than our other dinners – it contains only the chicken with a small amount of home-made yoghurt (as a probiotic).  It is specifically for food allergy problems, and dogs are put on to Oscar’s for at least two months to clear their systems and start afresh.

We're not sure if the food added to Juno's skin allergies as she licked her paws until they were raw!!

Hi Wendy

Thanks for your feedback.

Sorry to hear that Juno is having itchy paws... that must be very uncomfortable. The Oscar's recipe is designed for dog's who specifically have allergies to foods other than chicken (if there is a chicken allergy then we have other chicken free options available)... but unfortunately it's not a cure all for every possible allergy.

If Juno is having irritation on her paws then it may very well be a reaction to something environmental as apposed to in the food. Usually when a dog experiences inflammation on the paws this is an indication that they have been walking on something that doesn't agree with them (it is common to see this in dogs with grass allergies for example).

Have you ever had any allergy testing done? If so, please get in touch so we can examine her results more closely and make sure she is getting the right diet for her.

Looking forward to chatting further and getting Juno sorted!
